Dr. Rajorshi Ray is an Assistant Professor at the Human Sciences Research Centre (HSRC) at the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT Kanpur). His doctoral dissertation, titled "Social Networks and Their Role in Structuring Entrepreneurship in Platform-Mediated Service Work in India," examined the intersections of social networks and entrepreneurship within the context of platform-based service economies.

Dr Ray's research interests focus on understanding the socio-economic practices and processes that shape digital societies. Employing methodological triangulation, his current work explores the dynamics of digital money, social interactions, mobilities, and entrepreneurship. He is actively collaborating with leading international institutions, including IIT Kanpur, Florida State University, and the Danish Institute of Advanced Sciences, to investigate how digital economic transactions influence informal markets in India.

Dr. Ray employs a mixed-methods approach in his research, integrating ethnography and discourse analysis to examine the social dimensions of digital economies. His work has been published in reputable journals such as the Journal of South Asian Development and the Asian Studies Review. He is also co-authoring a forthcoming book tentatively titled Platform Economies in India.

During his doctoral studies, Dr. Ray was awarded prestigious scholarships from the Oxford Internet Institute and Chalmers Institute of Technology, recognising his academic excellence and research potential.
